3 villages in Sant Joan de Labritja to discover

The north of Ibiza preserves some of the quietest and most rural landscapes on the island, between fields, pine forests, small white churches and a coast dotted with coves. And its villages are a magnificent gateway to get to know this leisurely and traditional Ibiza.
Today we visit three villages in Sant Joan de Labritja with very different personalities
Let's discover them!
Sant Joan de Labritja: a great potential to discover

Small, quiet and full of charm, Sant Joan de Labritja takes place around the road that leads to Portinatx and Cala de Sant Vicent. Although its centre is small, it is worth stopping, strolling among its whitewashed houses or sitting quietly in one of its cafes.
Its main monument is the church of Sant Joan Baptista, built at the end of the eighteenth century and around which the town grew. On Sunday mornings, Sant Joan also takes on a very different atmosphere thanks to its well-known market, where artisans and artists meet and musical performances are held.
And if you want to continue exploring, from here you have some of the great natural attractions of the municipality very close: Cala Xarraca, S'Illot des Renclí, Cala Xuclar, Portinatx or Cala d'en Serra, as well as the lighthouse des Moscarter and different hiking trails.
A trip to rural Ibiza in Sant Llorenç de Balàfia

Unlike the rest of the towns in the municipality, Sant Llorenç de Balàfia has no coast. Its attraction is precisely inland, where we find one of the best places to get closer to the architecture and rural past of Ibiza...
Its small nucleus is made up of the church and a small group of houses. In its surroundings you can visit the recreational area of Can Pere Mosson and the Es Amunts Interpretation Centre, dedicated to the natural and ethnographic values of this unique region in the north of Ibiza.
But one of the most interesting visits is the Village of Balàfia, a historic complex of traditional houses and shelter towers whose origin dates back centuries. These constructions help us to imagine what life was like in the Ibizan countryside and how its inhabitants protected themselves from attacks by corsairs. The houses are still private and inhabited, so you cannot access their interior, but you can contemplate them from the paths that run through the complex.
Do you want to complete the plan? The road to Sant Joan is also known for its restaurants, so you can combine heritage and gastronomy in the same day.
Sant Vicent de sa Cala: history between mountains and the Mediterranean

We continue to Sant Vicent de sa Cala, a small town located in one of the most mountainous areas of northern Ibiza. Its simple church, of small dimensions, has a central nave and six side chapels.
From here you can go to Cala de Sant Vicent, a wide beach of fine sand and clear waters accompanied by a promenade with restaurants, bars and small shops. A perfect combination if you want to unite town and sea in the same excursion.
But in the surroundings there is also one of the most interesting historical sites in Ibiza: the Cova des Culleram, located about 3.5 kilometres from the beach. This ancient Punic sanctuary was linked first to Reshef-Melkart and later to the goddess Tanit, and more than 600 terracotta figures were found there.
Hiking enthusiasts can also discover this area on foot along the route that connects Sant Joan with Cala de Sant Vicent, thus getting closer to some of the most characteristic landscapes of northern Ibiza.
