Cala d´Hort

Caló d’Hort (“vegetable garden”) is at 11 km away from San Josep de sa Talaia, located between Cala Truja and Cap Blanc. You can reach it by taking the Es Cubells road and then turning off to the right 1 km before you come to the village of Sant Josep. From its coast is possible to see the emerging Escull (“reef”) of Cala d’Hort and the steep, stunning and enigmatic small islands of es Vedrà (with a maximum height of 382 metres), es Vedranell (with a maximum peak of 128 metres in altitude) and sa Galera. This V-shaped sea inlet is characterized for its big size, for having large dimensions, an irregular, abrupt and steep coastline, high cliffs that surround the cove populated by pines and scrubland; a slope of mid-grain sand, gentle wind and slope (at 35 metres from the coast there is a depth of one and a half metres). It has crystal clear waters over a sandy ground, all together invites to practice diving. This cove has marine and underwater conditions that are suitable for anchoring boats, due to its vertical cliffs. This fact makes it a good place to be protected from air currents from the East. This bay is exposed to winds that come from Southwest-West-Northeast and East.
