Madrid, 9 August 2023. Ibiza and the Balearic Islands as a whole have become, in recent years, pioneers in the application of circularity and sustainability in the territory, creating a clear roadmap in their process of blue, sustainable and circular transition. A new, more inclusive, environmental and social approach that is based on guaranteeing the wellbeing of all people, residents and visitors, and protecting natural resources and local biodiversity.

With this vision, as well as with the aim of combating sedentary lifestyles among the population and promoting a new tourism and territorial development model, with regenerative culture as its main pillar, once again this year, under the slogan 'Do Sport for the Planet', participants in the Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour can choose one of the three circuits of between 2 and 11 kilometres for running or walking, adapted to all ages and fitness levels, which combine targeted outdoor sport and physical activity with the collection of waste along the way.

In this new edition held in Ibiza, the kick-off of the fourth Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour that will visit different Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, A Coruña, Valencia, Málaga and Bilbao in 2024, new routes and starting area will be launched, where participants will be able to collect their bib number and kit from 9:00 a.m., which includes an eco-bottle and official wristband, gloves and bags for the activity.

Sport and awareness: 100% solidarity registrations

Places are limited and all citizens, families, companies, associations and sports clubs wishing to take part in the event on 29 October can register via the initiative's website. The registration fee is €5 for adults and €1 for children, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to APNEEF (Association of People with Special Needs of Ibiza and Formentera).

In addition, during the day on the island of Ibiza, you can enjoy a full programme of activities for young and old in the Plogging Campus area. Fitness and zumba classes, art, reuse and recycling workshops with textile, plastic and cardboard waste, a space to discover local biodiversity through Virtual Reality technology, an exhibition of sculptures made with "waste", gymkhana and collaborative games for children and a sports court where several exhibitions and a badminton masterclass will take place.
